The Senior Account Manager - Carrier Sales is responsible for the overall care, growth and retention of the Carrier Sales team’s Total Billed Revenue (TBR). The roles primary responsibility is to maintain and grow existing TDS carrier revenues, which is achieved by managing new circuit sales through the Clarity (CAA) project process, renewing circuits, upgrading circuits, and providing expert customer service to our carrier and wholesale customers. 

 

This position will work Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm CST. 

 

The Senior Account Manager - Carrier Sales is targeted to earn $80,460+ annually (base + commission)

 

You will be a solution seller by identifying opportunities to leverage TDS’s full complement of solutions and technology offerings, which encompass: Ethernet, Dark Fiber, Internet, TDM, and Sonet products. You will be responsible and accountable for maintaining and growing an existing carrier base of customers as well as assisting with new business opportunities.

 

You will manage moves, adds, changes, and deletions (MACD) to existing carrier customer accounts and will renew existing carrier contracts, some of which require responding to RFPs. You will proactively foster additional revenue growth by building a funnel of renewals and upgrade opportunities. Working in concert with the manager, you will craft a specific sales plan that will chart a course for meeting TBR objectives as well as assisting in generating new monthly revenue.

 

You will manage the delivery of the sold products to the carrier and/or wholesale customer. You will validate the Data Gathering Form (DGF), versus the contract to ensure what is sold matches the request. You will validate SOX approvals from product management and, in some instances, are required to invoice and verify payment based on contract requirements. You will open projects in Clarity and manages customer questions and sets expectations throughout the construction projects. You will meet with the Manager-Project Implementation (MPI) weekly for status updates, project timelines and monitors orders through the process. You will process Metasolv orders to design circuits, exchange VLAN, and send FOC to customers.  

 

The successful candidate must be detailed oriented, experienced in managing a database, willing to consistently demonstrate extraordinary dedication to customers, and have strong problem solving skills. The individual will become an expert on all wholesale and carrier products. You must be willing to take the lead on resolving customer issues through escalation to the appropriate teams and provide timely follow-up.

 

This position has the ability to work remotely in any of the 40+ States in which TDS Telecom operates.

Responsibilities

  • Manage existing account base. Take new sales from signed contract through CAA project to acceptance by customer. Manage customer expectations on project completion and deliver contracted product to customer for testing.  Actively manage the existing base to ensure we retain and grow the carrier/wholesale accounts in the future.  Provide education on the industry, technology and TDS products and services.
  • Manage Metasolv records and ensure circuits are in the provisioning system and up to our order data standards. This may include, but is not limited to, TDM, dark fiber and Ethernet. Work with Product management on Carrier requirements for internal PAC projects
  • Assist in managing customer relationship with named carrier/wholesale accounts.  Handle MACD for named accounts and negotiate customer credits, if needed. Contact carrier customers to renew terms on contracts as term plan expire.
  • Guide carrier customers through the TDS special construction process (ATC).  Notify customers, quote services, write & execute contracts, invoice and validate payment received.
  • Develop an annual tactical new and existing customer growth and retention plan to meet the monthly and annual goals.  Craft and implement a personal action plan.  Report activity and monitor progress on a weekly, monthly, and bi-annual basis.  Meet regularly with manager to review overall achievement of goals.
  • Maintain customer and prospect information, and forecasts utilizing current quotes and compensation files.
  • Maintain and enhance technical knowledge through internal and external training opportunities and boost interpersonal skills by attending and/or leading professional development programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager, director or VP.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of customer service experience
  • 3+ years inside or outside sales experience
  • 2+ years carrier telecommunications sales experience and/or experience with Special Access Products (i.e. Ethernet, Sonet, DS3s, t-1s, etc.)
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license, insurance, and have access to reliable transportation


Other Qualifications:

  • Associate or Bachelor Degree in Business Communications, Economics, Engineering or related field preferred

  • Ability to clearly and effectively set goals and then attain them as evidenced by a track record of setting goals, creating a work plan, establishing a reward, working diligently, measuring performance, adjusting as necessary and then accomplishing the goal
  • Well organized, good time management skills, ability to multi-task and close attention to detail.
  • Customer service experience, motivation to serve and a genuine interest in helping others including both internal and external customers
  • Comprehensive product and application knowledge with the ability to provide a high volume of quality problem resolution to customers
  • Competitive nature, strong passion to sell and succeed coupled with a mastery of our sales processes and practices
  • Time intensity that is evidenced by a track record of seizing the moment and bringing the appropriate amount of energy to solve problems and effect change sooner than later
  • History of identifying problems, gathering data, consulting others, soliciting input, weighing the facts, making decisions and effectively implementing the decision
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills including the ability to explain complex issues in a clear and thorough manner as evidenced in personal interviews and via telephone-Must have a cell phone
  • Ability to work effectively with customers at “C” and other levels of management
  • Confidence coupled with necessary empathy to quickly set any customer at ease
  • Ability to grasp new concepts and material quickly, willingness to learn and continue to learn as evidenced by formal education or work experience
  • Ability to work independently or interdependently based upon the circumstances.
  • Must maintain satisfactory sales quotas
