As the Manager - Financial Analysis & Reporting, you will play a lead role in driving strategic financial insights across the organization. This is a high-impact position that combines leadership responsibilities with deep analytical work. You will be equally comfortable leading cross-functional project teams and rolling up your sleeves to develop robust financial models and analysis.

 

Additionally, you will serve as both a team lead and individual contributor – preparing monthly financial analysis of variance and changes in business conditions, developing preliminary business cases, creating economic/financial computer models for ealuating complex business decisions. This position will lead project teams assembled to create tools to solve various analytic and business needs, including but not limited to management reporting, financial analysis, forecasting & budgeting, strategic evaluation & analysis, or business case analysis.

In this position you will act as a subject matter expert and point person for your assigned area of expertise, routinely interacting with officers, senior leaders, and interested parties throughout the company. Assignments will rotate and may include one or more of the following processes, with a tendency toward more complex processes: functional area, customer segment or product line monthly financial analysis, budgets and consolidation, resource allocation and capital management, payroll and headcount, operations and management reporting, special project analysis, business development activities or other as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares financial analysis of variance and changes in business conditions.  Working closely with assigned VP and his/her direct reports
    • Identifies and communicates effectively trends in business conditions and reports these in a manner that is understandable and meaningful to the assigned group.

    • Prepares special analysis and research on financial results as needed.

    • Helps assigned unit to build appropriate business cases by supplying pertinent support and costing information.

    • Identifies opportunities for improvements in financial results

  • Leads project teams tasked with development of tools and processes to facilitate management reporting, forecasting & budgeting, financial analysis, or business case analysis.
  • Serves as subject matter expert and point person for assigned process or processes.
  • Continuously identify and evaluate business unit needs. Work closely with the appropriate Finance groups to ensure business unit's financial needs are met.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Finance, Engineering, Accounting or a business-related field
  • 4+ years solving business problems as demonstrated by experience in financial analysis, accounting, strategic marketing, management consulting, product and/or business development, and/or strategic planning

Other Qualifications:

  • MBA or similar degree is preferred.
  • Strong Knowledge of wide range of analytic tools: trend analysis, price volume analysis, statistics & ratios, industry analysis
  • Knowledge of financial reporting and financial systems (e.g., SAP) a plus.
  • Proficiency in personal computer applications, especially Excel with strong Power Point and Word skills
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Must be able to "sell" ideas.
  • Must be a life-long learner with strong analytical, communications, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must have a demonstrated ability to work with people from diverse business backgrounds, functional disciplines, and levels – getting results while maintaining positive relationships.
  • A well-developed understanding of the fundamentals that drive the industry (business models, markets, technology, regulation and public policy, etc.) is helpful, but the ability to quickly understand and critically evaluate new developments as they emerge is equally critical.
  • Ability to take abstract business concepts and connect them to a "live" business case opportunity.
  • This position, by its nature, involves interaction with executives at TDS and TDS Telecom and the incumbent must be capable of operating effectively at this level.
