We are hiring a Data Architect (Remote) to join our Data Management & Security team! In this role you'll have responsibility to manage the uniform definition of data elements across our organization. This is a senior-level position which is accountable for the consistency, quality, and availability of TDS Telecom's data within an integrated systems environment. This role is integral to the success of the process and productivity initiative, the process and visioning councils, the long range development of a shared services organization and the ability to produce process improvement initiatives through automation of manual processes. Data ownership definition will allow removal of duplicate processes and enable integration of standalone processes. 

 

This position has the ability to work remotely in any of the 40+ States in which TDS Telecom operates.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and support architectural principles related to management of data as a corporate asset.  Apply industry best practice, accepted frameworks and business appropriate techniques to support TDS initiatives.  Ensure adherence to governance and that principles are applied for new projects.
  • Train and guide others to understand the fundamentals of data normalization, data modeling, data use, and data lifecycle management.
  • Work across a wide range of stakeholders, application subject matter experts, architects, technology and business leaders to harness perspectives, influence & drive consistent data practices.
  • Define governance and best practices around meta-data to ensure an integrated definition of data for enterprise information, and to ensure the accuracy, validity, reusability, and consistent definitions for common reference data.  Drive the ongoing implementation and use of the corporate Data Dictionary.
  • Keep current with data architecture technologies and management trends.
  • Provide input to reviews of Solutions Architecture designs, especially where data issues are concerned.
  • Knowledge of the unified reference data model - TMForum TM Forum Frameworx Shared Information/Data Model (SID) and how it can be used to meet our business objectives.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) –OR- 4+ years professional work experience.
  • 7+ years of progressive IT and data architecture experience, in a similar role.
  • 5+ years of logical data modeling experience in a complex data environment, using appropriate data modeling tools (erwin is preferred). 

Other Qualifications:

  • Experience performing most of the essential duties of this position in some capacity in a direct or related role.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills, including the ability to communicate at very senior levels within the business organization.
  • Excellent leadership, influencing and reasoning skills.
  • Strong technical experience with one or more of the following technologies: Data Dictionaries, Data Lake, Data Warehousing, Master Data Management, NoSQL.
  • Awareness of key trends in data architecture technology including applicability to telephony business opportunities in general and TDS Telecom business opportunities understanding specifically.
  • Experience with Data modeling in an agile development environment would be a plus.
  • Experience with geospatial data design (ArcGIS) would be a plus.
