As a Sr. Analyst - BRI & Data Analytics, you will support the TDS Telecom Business Units with business intelligence (BI) activities that include data gathering and analytics, and the development and implementation of data solutions intended to improve operations and overall profitability. This includes supporting the development of effective and efficient reporting and metrics which will facilitate data-driven decision making.

 

This position requires analytical and programming skills and the ability to work with data from a variety of sources for complex analyses.  You will be responsible for routinely gathering data from various TDS Telecom systems in order to develop data analytics using tools such as Business Objects (Webi and OLAP Analysis), Alteryx, Tableau, Power BI, Microsoft SharePoint, and various other database tools and technologies. This position also requires the ability to effectively translate user requirements and/or functional designs into technical designs, and to create reports and metrics targeted towards facilitating improvements in operational efficiencies.

 

Based on team assignments and specific projects, the scope of this position includes BI activities for various business units throughout the TDS Telecom organization.

 

This position has the ability to work remotely in any of the 40+ States in which TDS Telecom operates.

 

This position can be hired at an Associate Manager - BRI & Data Analytics (2025-27813) or Sr Analyst - BRI & Data Analytics (2025-27814) level depending on the skills and qualifications of the candidate. Responsibilities

Data Planning, Gathering, & Development

  • Assist in information gathering sessions with business process owners to understand data requirements and objectives.
  • Research, design, code, test, and aggregate results from database queries.  May act as lead architect for solutions that correlate information from multiple data systems to improve operations and overall profitability.
  • Lead the process of mining data and presenting it in understandable ways that can improve productivity.
  • Collaborate with end users to validate that the data provided meets their business needs.

Reporting, Metric, & Workflow Deployment

  • Lead in designing reports and metrics to summarize information, leveraging automated solutions where possible.  This includes monitoring end-user reporting tools and systems to ensure output is complete and accurate, enabling effective data-driven decision making.
  • Proactively communicate with teams requesting reports to organize and prioritize requests in the queue, understanding deadlines and deliverable needs
  • Support the completion of special projects and business initiatives that impact overall margin enhancement.

BRI tools & Process Documentation

  • Create and maintain technical documentation to capture database contents, concepts, and mappings between datasets.
  • Maintain team standard operating procedures (SOP’s) and develop documentation to ensure consistency and ongoing team development.
  • Participate in peer code reviews.

Data Warehouse

  • Maintain, support, and enhance the business intelligence applications and the backend data warehouse used to generate business unit key analytics and metrics for the TDS Telecom management team.
  • Play the lead role in monitoring exception reporting to validate data integrity.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Business or related field -OR- 4+ years equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • 2+ years in a software development, data engineering, or data-driven reporting role

Other Qualifications

  • Knowledge of business intelligence concepts, SAP BW, Webi and/or Crystal reporting experience
  • Knowledge of SQL, Python, JavaScript, HTML, JQuery, JSON, CSS, and/or web programming
  • Ability to lead small projects, design solutions, and communicate completion timelines
  • Experience with Microsoft SharePoint, Access, and Excel
  • Proven effective project management skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to act independently and demonstrate sound judgment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Desire to learn new software tools and packages
  • Strong technical aptitude
  • Excellent organizational, prioritization, time management, and problem resolution skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, positive attitude, and the ability to develop relationships
  • Team player who works effectively and efficiently with others
