Overview

As a Senior Warehouse Technician, you will provide quality service to our internal customers while supporting customer focused activities and company projects while coordinating the inbound and outbound shipments accurately and free from damage. Additionally, you will maintain inventory and ensure accuracy in applicable tracking systems. You will handle work orders and work with customers to ensure applicable receipt and stocking of CATV installation, maintenance, and construction materials with a high degree of accuracy.

 

This position can be hired at either a Warehouse Technician (#2024-24160) or a Senior Warehouse Technician (#2024-24161) level depending on the skills and qualifications of the candidate. Different job postings exist for each of these positions. The pay range listed for this position represents the low and high end of the base compensation range. Responsibilities

  • Service - Gathers items or materials requested by customers for issue or assembles Bills of Materials (BOM) required for specific projects. Packages orders, shipments, or BOM’s to protect materials from damage during transit. Ships materials to vendors, repair facilities, or customers. Delivers customer orders or materials to various departments and locations. Test equipment for proper function and schedule repairs of damaged/broken or defective equipment. Coordinates all Repairs to CPE equipment, and warranty items.
  • Inventory - Safeguards and tracks inventory items to ensure accurate accountability. Identifies and sorts materials, marks and labels inventory items prior to storing or distribution. Stores or puts inventory items away in assigned storage locations. May also ensure that all new CPE equipment is loaded correctly into SAP, IUTA, and other tracking databases as required within 48 hours of receipt, unpacking and labeling and repacking before adding to inventory. Maintains inventory including purchasing, receiving, stocking and tracks regulated and non-regulated equipment and materials.
  • Track inventory, maintains appropriate inventory levels which may include the utilization of tracking tools via mailbox and web-tools, plant record systems, SAP and other company applications where applicable. Conduct cycle inventory counts, and performs annual reconciliation as directed. Inventory responsibilities may include warehouse, vehicles, in process orders, repair and delinquent shipments which includes the loading and unloading of all shipments.
  • Receiving - Takes possession of products or materials to place them into inventory or distribute them for immediate use. Receiving duties include: unloading inbound shipments from delivery trucks, inspection of shipments for any visible damage, material counts and coordination with packing slips, and documentation to verify item number, description and quantity, and/or damage to shipment, documentation of shipments and/or discrepancies and reports findings to management. May include tagging and filing documents indicating receipt.
  • Operate and Maintain Equipment - Operates and maintains department equipment as required to ensure operational readiness. Duties include: operating forklifts to load or unload palletized materials, using hand trucks and carts to move or deliver products, weighing materials, using stenciling equipment to mark or label pallets and spools, utilizing barcode scanners and computers to collect and record data, perform operator inspections and maintenance as required by equipment manuals and/or company policies, operate all equipment in a safe and efficient manner following prescribed work methods. Assigns or issues Customer Premise Equipment to technicians needed for each work order. Work with technicians, coordinators, contractors on local recoveries. May issue CPE, and construction supplies and equipment with coordinated shipment.
  • Record Keeping - Maintains records, documentation, and files critical to business and financial operations. Duties include filing, archiving, or retrieving records as required in support of audits, financial reporting, or other business operations, disposing of files or records in compliance with company policies. This includes working with Finance to maintain accurate and appropriate inventory levels. Arrange disposal or recycling of equipment as needed.
  • Safety & Security - Perform all actions in compliance with all organizational safety, housekeeping, and security policies (Federal OSHA, DOT, and Company Safety policies and regulations).
  • Materials - Cares for the gathering of materials for each kit, assembles, weighs/counts, labels, and stores each kit in its assigned location.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

 

  • 3+ years' experience in warehousing or distribution center operations.
  • 1+ years' experience using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • 1+ years' experience operating material handling equipment (forklifts, pallet lifters, and rigging equipment).
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license, insurance, and have access to reliable transportation. 

Other Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience using a Warehousing, Inventory, ERP Management Systems (Great Plains, SAP, Navision, MRP or similar).
  • Must possess or have the ability to gain a Forklift Certification.
  • Experienced at performing regular warehouse stocking, counting, picking and sorting requirements.
  • Ability to interact with customers, vendors and co-workers in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; develops and maintains two-way communications; keeps other departments informed of developments affecting their functions.
  • Ability to multi-task and respond to changing priorities; excels at cutting through confusion and turning chaos into order.
  • Strong organizational skills with an attention to detail.
  • Possesses mathematical skills.
  • Possesses technical skills.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to sit, stand, write and operate a computer keyboard, standard office equipment and telephone. The associate regularly communicates with customers. The associate is frequently required to move about and reach for items. Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. May be required to balance or climb. Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

 

This position may require working outdoors, in mechanical/equipment rooms, and possible extreme weather conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and heavy equipment. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Associates scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week have access to medical, dental, vision, life insurance, a 401(k) plan, and paid time off benefits such as vacation (15 days accrued per year for full-time; pro-rated for part-time associates working between 20-39 hours), sick leave (10 days accrued per year for full-time and pro-rated for all other associates), seven paid national holidays and one floating holiday, paid parental leave (2 weeks after 12 months of employment), among others.  Short Term Disability and Long Term Disability coverage is also available for associates working 30 or more hours per week and Education Assistance is available to full-time associates.  Associates scheduled to work under twenty hours per week or for a limited term (i.e. interns) are eligible for medical coverage, the 401(k) plan (if 18 or older), as well as sick leave (10 days accrued per year for full-time and pro-rated for all other associates).
