The Network Specialist - Proactive Network Maintenance will focus on the implementation and continuous improvement of PNM (Proactive Network Maintenance) in both our cable and wireline markets along with other proactive trouble resolution projects. The right candidate will use their knowledge, experience, and insight to work across functional boundaries recommending and championing new metrics, data gathering techniques, and systems development to support the PNM effort as well as coordinating with operational teams to move the reports and systems into actionable, repeatable processes. The goal of this work is to become more efficient and effective with our workforce, to prevent trouble tickets, and to provide the absolute best experience for our customers.

• Provide leadership and guidance in the development and operationalization of PNM in both our cable and wireline markets. Identify key metrics impacted by the implementation of PNM and track those metrics to quantify and ensure continued operational efficiency. Continually review and revise thresholds and operational processes to optimize the PNM ecosystem.
• Provide technical and operational consulting to all business units with regard to Customer Experience and Customer Experience measurement. Assist in determining how to combine network/customer performance data with customer experience data to provide a comprehensive view of the Customer Experience.
• Works with customer facing business units (Customer Repair, FS, ETC) to understand the needs of those business units for toolsets and information to streamline processes and improve efficiency. Serves as a voice to NO and IT leadership to encourage development of robust tools that reduce operational cost and drive improved customer experience and operational efficiency.
• Collaborates with leaders across all business units to continue to drive programs that champion network supportability, network reliability, and customer satisfaction in order to reduce network risk and operational cost.

Network Specialist II

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) -OR- 4+ years of professional experience.
• 4 + years’ experience in Voice/Data/Video networking.

Senior Network Specialist

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) -OR- 4+ years professional work experience.
• 6+ years experience in Voice/Data/Video networking.

Network Consultant

• Bachelor's degree (or higher) OR 4+ years professional work experience.
• 10 + years’ experience in Voice/Data/Video networking.

Other Qualifications:

• Extensive experience working with various network equipment vendors.
• Knowledge of signaling systems/protocols such as SS7 and IP.
• Knowledge of Ethernet transport systems, wave division multiplexing systems, loop access carrier systems, PON, RFoG, integrated access devices, and DSL systems.
• Knowledge of DOCSIS, Packetcable and NCS systems.
• Knowledge of Advanced Intelligent Network (AIN) services and standards.
• Knowledge of data networking, including routers, servers, as it relates to integrating voice and data over a single network.
• Knowledge of switched digital video networks including headend, distribution and customer network.
• Knowledge of wireless broadband networks.
• Ability to discuss highly technical issues in a manner that is appropriate for the audience.
• Experience in performing cost and comparative analyses.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
• This position will require an individual that can provide direction and lead, as others will look for guidance on technical issues. The ability to work with people with a variety of backgrounds and evaluate competing goals is essential.
