  • Overview

    The Senior Administrator-Project Management / Project Manager manages projects of small to medium risk (e.g. PAC projects), scope and complexity related to any of the TDS Telecom lines of business including Wireline and Cable. This role also leads small to medium product development initiatives or research projects including coordination with vendors. The position provides product developers and project managers with assistance in producing program status reports as well as product code coordination and management. This position provides management with appropriate information and assurances required for projects of this significance.

     

    The primary role of this position is to ensure that the sponsoring MSCO team and any/all cross-functional teams are satisfied with the quality of the delivered business and/or process functionality as well as time and cost to deliver.

    Responsibilities

    • Consult with the Functional Business Leads on Project Initiation Statements, Project Definition, Reports, and Feasibility Studies. (Requirements)
    • Work with Functional Business Leads on Business Cases. This should include scope control and change impact analysis. (Pre-planning)
    • Develop work plans and work programs including estimates and resource requirements. (Planning)
    • Work with Functional Business Units, Business Process Managers and when appropriate the Telecom Information Technology and TDS Corporate teams to ensure the appropriate level of skill and staffing for the project.  Responsible for ensuring that the project is staffed with the appropriate skills in each position and revising project timeline and cost estimates accordingly to reflect the skill level at each position.     • Accountable for meeting the project deliverables in a manner that minimizes application life cycle cost given the Sponsor’s and Business Process Management expectations of the project for quality, cycle time and cost. (Implementing)
    • Accountable for ensuring consistency with goals, objectives and standards. (Follow-up)
    • Identify, capture, and monitor key project metrics that are appropriate for the chosen project path, Proactively utilize development measurement systems and metrics to manage attainment of project sponsor’s expectations and deliverables.  Present revised plans and actions consistent with meeting these expectations founded in measurable facts and indices. (Monitoring)
    • Prepare an appropriate level of system, operational and decision documentation is created as defined by the applicable process model. (Implementing)

    Qualifications

    Sr. Admin- Project Management:

    • Bachelor’s degree OR 4+ years of professional work experience.
    • 1+ year practical experience in a project leadership role with direct project accountability for at least one project through all phases of a least one life cycle process.
    • 3+ years of telecommunications experience. (Experience should be broad in focus with in-depth knowledge of operations and culture of operating telephone companies; including current TDS service assurance and/or service provisioning background).

    Project Manager:

    • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) OR 4+ years of professional work experience.
    • 1 + year practical experience in a project leadership role with direct project accountability for at least one project through all phases of at least one life cycle process.
    • 2+ years’ experience in a marketing, sales and/or resource planning role.

    Other Qualifications:

    • Ability to plan, organize, and control multiple tasks and projects.
    • Demonstrated interpersonal skills, including exceptional written and oral communication skills and conflict resolution skills.
    • Ability to resource, organize and deploy a strong team and foster a spirit of team play.
    • Knowledge of appropriate tools for the system(s) preferred, which may include MS Project, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and any functional systems being affected by the project.
    • Ability to rapidly assimilate key business objectives of the business unit being supported by the project.
    • Proven track record of accomplishments in the responsibilities listed for this position.
