    A Network Specialist on the ISP Engineering-Shared Services team is a highly technical position responsible for the hardware and logical design, engineering, and cost estimations of network solutions for Network Services led construction projects. These projects are run to implement/augment the TDS core and transport networks as well as all shared infrastructure networks such as IPTV, VoIP, and WiFi. This position will also be responsible for the development of internal process, engineering standards, and the training and mentoring of staff on those processes and standards.

     

    *TDS can hire as a Network Specialist, Network Specialist I, Network Specialist II, or Senior Network Specialist based on relevant experience, candidate pool, and business needs.  

    Responsibilities

    • Develop standards-based high-level design and final engineering documents utilizing technology and hardware specific knowledge for Network Services led construction projects. Understands and follows established processes, and completes assigned work in accordance with established timelines and quality measures to Plan, Engineer, Implement, and Optimize TDS’s combined Voice/Video/Data/WiFi network infrastructure.
    • Works with Architecture and Technology Development (Lab) resources to develop engineering use cases and validate the associated platform specific configurations.

    Qualifications

    Required Qualifications

     

    Network Specialist:

    • Associate Degree (or higher) –OR– 2+ years professional work experience
    • 2+ years experience in Voice/Data/Video networking.

    Network Specialist I: 

    • Associate Degree (or higher) –OR– 2+ years professional work experience
    • 3+ years experience in Voice/Data/Video networking.

    Network Specialist II: 

    • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) –OR– 4+ years professional work experience
    • 4+ years experience in Voice/Data/Video networking.

    Senior Network Specialist:

    • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) –OR– 4+ years professional work experience
    • 6+ years experience in Voice/Data/Video networking.

     

    Other Qualifications 

     

    Familiarity with some of the following areas and has subject matter expertise in multiple technologies:

    • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP stack
    • IP Routing (MPLS, OSPF, BGP, Multicast)
    • Ethernet Switching – LAN, Metro Ethernet, and Carrier Ethernet
    • Optical Transport - xWDM/ROADM
    • Microwave Transport
    • IP Video Acquisition and Delivery
    • VoIP
    • WiFi/Public WiFi design and engineering
