    The Manager – Talent Development position leads the Talent Development team and is responsible for the overall management of the design, creation and facilitation of enterprise-wide learning and development programs.  This key role serves as a strategic partner to leaders by understanding business needs, evaluating employee training strategies and programs and executing key learning solutions for development of our talent.  This includes, but is not limited to, targeted learning solutions that meet specific business needs such as sales, product and functional training development and delivery, leading instructional design in addition to implementing end-to-end employee and leadership development initiatives which could include managing partnerships with external vendors.

    Responsibilities

    Operational Planning and Resource Management

    • Consistently meets with key stakeholders to understand current business needs, evaluates and prioritizes training initiatives and projects ensuring the necessary resources are assigned to each. Monitors progress of initiatives, eliminates roadblocks to success, and reassigns resources accordingly to accomplish company goals. Accountable for quality delivery of all training and development initiatives and programs.

    Leadership and Employee Development

    • Consults with internal customers, understanding current issues and strategic goals and recommending where leadership development initiatives can positively impact performance in relation to set objectives.
    • Researches, designs, delivers and/or evaluates programs, courses and initiatives for leadership and employee development.
    • Assesses leadership development needs and identifies learning gaps in the organization and provides recommendations for learning interventions. 

    Project Management

    • Manages large-scale training and/or development projects that require cross-functional execution and/or are strategic in scope. This includes project planning, team development, communication and tracking project implementation and project evaluation.

    HR Leadership

    • As a member of the HR leadership team, participates in overall HR project/program definition, objectives and implementation. Plays an integral role in HR Strategic Planning.

    Strategic Planning for Talent Development

    • Sets, communicates, and executes the strategic direction for Talent Development that meets the needs of the current and future organization, its management and employees and links to the Mission and Shared Values of TDS.

    Budget Planning & Management

    • Manages Talent Development cost center on a monthly basis including sharing budget reports with the team and customers, analyzing results and adjusting expenses as necessary to meet financial targets.

    Qualifications

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) OR 4+ years professional work experience.
    • 5+ years’ experience leading full cycle training or talent development initiatives, coaching others, training delivery, design, development and evaluation.
    • 5+ years in a management role with direct reports or in a significant coaching or mentoring role.

     

     

    Other Qualifications 

    • Experience in project management, multi-tasking, time management and organizational skills.
    • Proven leadership experience in a team environment.
    • Experience with alternative delivery methods such as e-learning, virtual ILT, blended learning, and video.
    • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to lead and motivate both individuals and teams.
    • Ability to think strategically and communicate training vision to others.
    • Experience with needs assessment, evaluation, adult learning theory, organizational development, budgeting, and performance management issues.
    • Some travel required.
