  • Overview

    The supervised Machine Learning internship is an opportunity to work hand-in-hand with the data science team.  This project looks at proactive network management to improve customer experience.  The dataset includes customer trouble ticket and time-series network data.  Using analytical techniques, network problems can be predicted and with the right application used to correct issues before they impact customer experience.  This role is directly involved in the training datasets required to tune and validate the machine learning models.  Other projects using similar methods may be included in the scope of the internship.

    • The day-to-day role requires analysis of data to train and validate machine learning algorithms.  Specific responsibilities include data cleaning, data validation, a/b testing of results, and communicating with research and analytics groups both within and external to TDS.


    Required Qualifications

    • Currently enrolled in a computer science, engineering or other technical degree seeking program
    • 1+ semester programming experience in C, Java, Python or other related programming language
    • 1+ semester of advanced math, linear algebra, or discrete mathematics


    Other Qualifications

    • Basic working knowledge of artificial intelligence concepts (AI/ML)
    • Knowledge of Internet protocol function (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP)
    • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong attention to detail
    • Desire to learn new software tools and is a proven self-starter
