    TDS Telecom is looking to hire an Revenue Assurance and Internal Controls Intern!  This intern is responsible for assisting the Telecom Revenue Assurance & Internal Controls team in the execution of core internal control processes, projects, and tasks to ensure the business unit complies with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements. Under direct supervision, this intern will provide assistance and support of one or more of the following: assist with evaluation and effectiveness of internal controls and SOX compliance in selected business areas, and/or participate in revenue assurance project-related activities as assigned.

     

    School is top priority so TDS offers very flexible schedules, while requiring you to work at least 15 hours per week.

    Responsibilities

    Internal Controls & SOX Compliance:

    • Assist with evaluation of efficiency and effectiveness of internal controls in selected business areas
    • Evaluate and approve user access requests that come into a designated mailbox
    • Brainstorm potential risk exposure and evaluate the mitigating controls built into processes by researching best practices to identify opportunities for increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of the SOX program
    • Execute annual user access review

     Support Data-Driven Decision Making Processes:

    • Conduct data modeling and critical review of various data sets and metrics, including ad hoc data analysis as requested of the Revenue Assurance team members
    • Assist in the research, risk analysis, documentation, and compliance of established business processes using data from various systems

    Qualifications

    Required Qualifications

    • Earned or currently pursuing Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Finance, or a related field
    • Successfully completed 2+ more semesters in accounting and/or finance 

    Other Qualifications

    • Working toward a related professional certification (CPA, CIA, CFE, CISA)
    • General understanding of GAAP, COSO, and Auditing pronouncements
    • Strong technical aptitude, particularly in the development of Excel spreadsheets
    • Strong analytical problem solving skills and critical thinking
    • Excellent interpersonal skills, including strong verbal and written communication
    • Ability to plan and organize multiple tasks
    • Solid work ethic and demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
    • Ability to work both independently and on team assignments
