    Job Title: Network Specialist - Broadband Engineering

    Network Specialist is a highly technical position responsible for technical leadership, mentoring, and completion of high-level design and final engineering of network solutions for Network Services led construction projects. These projects are run to implement/augment the TDS core and transport networks as well as all shared infrastructure networks such as IPTV, VoIP, and WiFi. A Senior Network Specialist will function with minimal supervision. This position will also be responsible for the development of internal process, engineering standards, and the training and mentoring of staff on those processes and standards.

     

      

    Please note: We can hire this position as a Network Specialist -  Senior Network Specialist, based on skills set and relevant experience.



    Responsibilities

    • Develop standards-based high-level design and final engineering documents utilizing technology and hardware specific knowledge for Network Services led construction projects.
    • Understands and follows established processes, and completes assigned work in accordance with established timelines and quality measures to Plan, Engineer, Implement, and Optimize TDS’s combined Voice/Video/Data/WiFi network infrastructure.
    • Works with Architecture and Technology Development (Lab) resources to develop engineering use cases and validate the associated platform specific configurations

     

    Qualifications

    Required Qualifications

    Network Specialist

    • Associate degree or higher and 2 + years work experience in Voice/Data/Video networking OR 4 + years experience in Voice/Data/Video networking.

     

    Network Specialist I

    • Associate degree or higher and 4 + years work experience in Voice/Data/Video networking. OR 6 + years experience in Voice/Data/Video networking.

     

    Network Specialist II

    • Bachelor's degree or higher AND 4 + years experience in Voice/Data/Video networking OR 8 + years experience in Voice/Data/Video networking

     

    Senior Network Specialist

    • Bachelor's degree or higher AND 6 + years experience in Voice/Data/Video networking OR 10 + years experience in Voice/Data/Video networking

    Other Qualifications 

    Is familiar with some of the following areas and has subject matter expertise in multiple technologies:

    • IP Routing (MPLS, OSPF, BGP, Multicast)
    • WiFi/Public WiFi design and engineering
    • Ethernet Switching – Metro Ethernet and Carrier Ethernet
    • VoIP
    • IP Video
    • Transport technologies including (but not limited to) DWDM, Pseudo-wire, Packet Optical, SONET, Microwave, etc.
    • Network infrastructure hardware platforms
      • Accedian
      • Adtran
      • Nokia
      • Brocade
      • Cisco
      • Ciena
      • Metaswitch
      • Overture
