TDS Telecom is seeking an enthusiastic, team-oriented and motivated Billing Operations Support Analyst (Internal Job Title: Analyst – Production Systems Support) to work in our Madison, WI office.  In this role you will create reports, review & analyze billing data to find patterns to identify savings / process efficiencies.  Additionally you will perform time sensitive production system support activities that are necessary to provide customers with timely and accurate bills.  This position also provides on-call support for billing events (evenings, weekends, and holidays).

Support the accuracy and timeliness of system processing through performing routine monitoring and maintenance of the systems (i.e. BDC, MARS, RPACS, CABS, SABRE, Microsoft Dynamics AX and future billing systems). 

  • Review and analyze data and performs activities necessary to assure a system is ready to process.
  • Perform verification
    • Usage is collected, assembled, rated, and guided correctly.
    • Billing Daily processing:
      • Payment processing,
      • Disconnect notices, reminder notices, and collection letters
      • Interfaces: CARE, E911, Directory Listing, Directory Publishing
    • Billing Cycle processing
    • PARS processing  
  • Review balancing reports, variance reports and/or monitoring tools.
  • When deviations occur - investigate, analyze, and resolve; or if required escalate for resolution.
  • Review billing for conformance to other functional and regulatory requirements.

Provides testing, training, consultation, and assistance with investigations related to billing operation functions.

  • Performs second level billing support to COAST. 
  • Answers questions and performs research as needed
  • Escalates complex issues as required to Sr. Analyst. 
  • Works with internal and external contacts to identify and resolve billing issues.
  • Update documentation on processes and procedures related to production support tasks to keep information current
  • Assist with SOX, Interexchange Carrier, Exchange Carrier, and Internal audits as requested to insure adequate and appropriate controls are in place. 


Required Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree –OR- 2+ years of professional work experience.

Other Qualifications:

  • Strong MS Access & Excel
  • Experience using SQL
  • Data mining experience
  • Microsoft Dynamics AX
  • ACL or other data analytics tools experience
  • Telecommunications experience preferred.
  • Functional knowledge of Message Processing, End-User and Carrier Access Billing.
  • System knowledge of TDS systems that support Message Processing, End-User and/or Carrier Access Billing.
  • Knowledge of TDS billing production controls.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively and work with others in a team environment.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills; able to deal effectively with multiple tasks and with varying deadlines.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Consistently demonstrates a professional image and positive attitude.

  • Experience with computers and various software packages utilized within TDS (i.e. Windows environment, Microsoft Office Suite, etc).
