About the Internship Opportunity


As a DevOps Intern, you will have the opportunity to help shape the direction of the new TDS IT DevOps team by assisting with the development of a continuous delivery pipeline for application developers; by getting involved with our OpenShift PaaS initiative; and perhaps even writing microservices in Python. Additionally, you'll be ideating with smart people in a learning-centric environment.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Good problem solving skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Solid linux skills
  • Basic knowledge of one or more programming languages in the use of simple scripting or application development including: Python, Ruby, or Java. Python preferred.
  • Rudimentary familiarity with network technologies and IP protocols (e.g., TCP, UDP, ICMP, etc.).
  • Rudimentary familiarity with how Internet networking protocols work (e.g., DNS, SMTP, FTP, HTTP, etc.)
  • Excellent workplace skills including time management, interpersonal skills and a strong work ethic desiring to benefit TDS Telecom and the candidate's personal career during their internship
  • A burning desire deep in your belly to find better ways of reducing cost while increasing quality in the software development lifecycle.
  • Any knowledge of containerization/Docker/OpenShift/microservices a bonus. Double bonus for practical experience.



Required Qualifications

  • 1+ semester of Python, Ruby or Java (must have received passing grade)
  • 1+ semester coursework using network technologies and/or IP Protocols (must have received passing grade)

Other Qualifications

  • 1+ semester coursework using a Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) such as Oracle
  • Knowledge of CSS, HTML, Javascript
  • Coursework using Linux
