Overview

The Network Specialist position on the CAA Engineering team requires the ability to assess project requirements, and determine the optimum logical solution balancing costs against central office, headend, or remote site constraints. Individuals will partner with other engineering, construction, implementation, and project management teams to respond rapidly to incoming projects. Individual must be capable of creating high level logical designs and estimating costs quickly, and when necessary, produce detailed Engineering Package Logical drawings to drive the equipment and material configuration. The CAA Engineering team is regionally based, and engineers are accountable and responsible for the logical path engineering and records for assigned companies and exchanges. This team is focused on high quality engineering of the logical path of various TDS Telecom networks.

 

Please note: We can hire this position as a Network Specialist -  Senior Network Specialist, based on skills set and relevant experience. 

Responsibilities

  • Provide high level design and detailed engineering for all logical aspects on many types of projects
  • Manage the design, engineering, and engineering records maintenance for assigned companies and exchanges.
  • Collaboratively prioritize work as needed to handle Expedites and Jeopardy situations in a timely manner.
  • Partner with other Engineering teams to create a seamless Engineering function in the implementation pipeline.
  • Work with Technology Development to update and maintain Standards as necessary.
  • Manage the Engineering process and workflow for continuous improvement; monitor internal customer feedback and conduct internal review sessions to ensure engineering output is consistent and high quality.

 

 

Qualifications

Network Specialist

  • Associate degree or higher and 2 + years work experience in Voice/Data/Video networking OR 4 + years experience in Voice/Data/Video networking.

 

Network Specialist I

  • Associate degree or higher and 4 + years work experience in Voice/Data/Video networking. OR 6 + years experience in Voice/Data/Video networking.

 

Network Specialist II

  • Bachelor's degree or higher AND 4 + years experience in Voice/Data/Video networking OR 8 + years experience in Voice/Data/Video networking

 

Senior Network Specialist

  • Bachelor's degree or higher AND 6 + years experience in Voice/Data/Video networking OR 10 + years experience in Voice/Data/Video networking

 

Other Qualifications 

  • Detail oriented
  • Central Office or cable Headend experience
  • Experience with Broadband access technologies.
  • Solid understanding of Transport technologies including SONET, ATM, Ethernet, POS, DWDM, WDM.
  • Knowledge and experience with process management and improvement techniques.
  • Strong organizational, coordination, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to function in a team environment and individually.
  • Strong people skills and the willingness to be accountable for results.
  • A proactive approach to projects and issue resolution.
  • Ability to set own priorities as well as manage changing priorities for you and others and to handle several complex tasks concurrently.
