Zolo Media, a TDS Broadcasting company, is looking for an experienced leader and General Manager to oversee all aspects of broadcast operations.   We are KOHD – Central Oregon’s ABC, KBNZCBS for Central Oregon, and local programming on Central Oregon Daily, COTV and CO4 Visitors Network.   We are storytellers of all that matters to Central Oregonians.


The General Manager (GM) is responsible for the overall success of the assigned TDS broadcasting operations encompassing: customer service, revenue growth and financial results.  This position represents the expert link between strategic direction and market implementation, coordinating the day-to-day activities of all team members to ensure company goals are achieved.  The GM oversees all aspects of the broadcast operations including: programming, production, sales, marketing, finance and compliance.  The GM is also responsible for programming, sales and marketing of the cable affiliate’s PEG channel and cable ad sales and insertion.

Original and distinctive local programming produced by Zolo includes Central Oregon Daily, news programming offered weekdays at 6pm on ABC and 7pm on CBS along with weekday lifestyle show, Central Oregon Daily at 3p, which airs on KOHD/ABC, tourism related features for CO4 Visitors Network and coverage of high school sports on COTV11, as well as various local events and community activities.


Zolo Media Company Information


  • Contribute to the strategic, long-range forecast, annual budget and quarterly forecast.  Deliver expected P&L results for the broadcast operation and the cable affiliate’s PEG and paid ad insertion revenue.  Report out results to senior leadership on a regular basis.


  • Establish, evaluate and implement performance metrics for all functions supervised. Measure, analyze and evaluate actual performance.  Compare actual results to expected performance, identify gaps, craft and communicate plans for improvement, and monitor progress on the areas for improvement.  Forecast, maintain and secure appropriate company assets.


  • Create and maintain a positive work culture that will support high productivity and foster employee attraction and retention.  Encourage staff to be accountable for their contribution to overall Company goals and objectives.  Partner with cross-functional groups to propose and manage creative solutions for improving coordination, collaboration and communication.


  • Deliver professional, local news, weather, information and programming.  Assess the talent and quality of the programming and provide guidance.  Strive to deliver local stories with an original “story telling” approach that has differentiated Zolo from the competition.  Secure other programming that will drive viewership and improve the value our advertisers receive.  Leverage the local PEG channel to meet regulatory requirements and deliver local, relevant programming.


  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with government, community and licensing authorities to ensure adherence to any and all conditions contained within the agreements. Work with the functional area(s) and outside counsel on negotiations and renewals.  Ensure safe working environments maintained throughout the market and adherence to OSHA and other safety regulations.


  • Provide local executive presence to customers and employees. Represent TDS throughout the market at local, civic, municipal, business and charitable events. Serve as a spokesperson, when asked, and partner with the TDS Government & Regulatory Affairs team to lobby for our causes with local, state and federal leaders.



Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree OR 4+ years professional work experience.
  • 10+ years in television broadcast management

  • Ability to create a professional, productive work culture that attracts talent, respects team members and encourages personal and professional growth.
  • Strong broadcast industry background, preferably a combination of sales, business, finance, programming and operations.
  • Must set the standard for personal integrity, honesty, accountability and sound business and finance judgment.
  • Good organizational skills, follow-through and ability to work well tactically, strategically and conceptually.
  • Must possess a sense of urgency and a “can-do” attitude.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Prior supervisory experience.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills with demonstrated record of dealing with sensitive issues in a positive, innovative and professional way.
  • Must be available off hours and able to work when situations dictate
